upload stems for stem mastering
To ensure the best possible result, it’s important that your stems are properly prepared before sending them for mastering. Please follow the guidelines below:
1. Format
-
Export your stems as WAV or AIFF files in 24-bit or 32-bit float
-
The sample rate should be 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, or higher – do not change the original sample rate
2. Stem Export
-
Export only the essential groups (e.g. drums, bass, vocals, guitars, synths, FX)
-
Avoid exporting every single track unless requested
-
Ensure all stems start at the same timestamp, even if some are silent at the beginning
3. Stereo Files
-
All stems should be stereo, unless the sound is clearly mono
-
Ensure proper panning within each stem (e.g. keep stereo width of background vocals)
4. Headroom
-
Leave at least -6 dB of headroom on each stem
-
No limiter or maximizer on individual stems or the master bus
5. Effects
-
Include creative effects (delays, reverbs, modulation etc.) if they are part of your intended sound
-
Do not include mastering-style effects like limiters or multiband compression
6. Naming
-
Clearly name each stem file, for example:
_Drums.wav
_Vocals.wav
7. Reference Mix & Tracks ( optional )
-
Include your final stereo mix as a reference
-
You may also send 1–2 reference tracks that represent the sound you are aiming for
8. Communication
-
Please include a few lines about:
-
What you’re hoping to achieve with the mastering
-
Any specific concerns or areas you’d like focus on
-
How and where the master will be used (e.g. streaming, vinyl, CD)
-
If you have any questions or need help exporting your stems,
don’t hesitate to get in touch.
