upload stereo mix for stereo mastering
To ensure the best possible result, it’s important that your mix files are properly prepared before sending them for mastering. Please follow the guidelines below:
1. Format
-
Export your mix as WAV or AIFF files in 24-bit or 32-bit float
-
The sample rate should be 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, or higher – do not change the original sample rate
2. Stereo Mix
-
The file must be in stereo, not mono or multichannel
-
Ensure that left and right channels are properly balanced
3. Headroom
-
Leave at least -6 dB of headroom in your mix
-
Do not place a limiter on the master bus – it’s essential to leave room for the mastering process
4. Effects on the Master Bus
-
Avoid using compressor, EQ, stereo widening, or other effects on the master bus – unless it’s an intentional creative choice
-
If you do use effects, please send two versions: one with and one without those effects
5. Fade-outs and Silence
-
Leave 1–2 seconds of silence at the beginning and end of the track
-
Do not add fade-ins/fade-outs unless they are part of your artistic intention
6. File Naming
-
Clearly name your files like this:
Artist_SongTitle_MixVersion.wav
7. Reference Tracks (optional)
-
You are welcome to send 1–2 reference tracks that reflect the sound you are aiming for
8. Communication
-
Feel free to include a few lines about:
-
What you wish to achieve with the mastering
-
Any challenges or concerns you have
-
How and where the master will be used (e.g. streaming, vinyl, CD)
-
If you have any questions or need help exporting your files,
don’t hesitate to get in touch.
